New York vs Buffalo

Despite the fact that Bills Mafia will not be out in full force for Sunday’s opener, oddsmakers don’t like the Jets’ chances at pulling off an upset in front of an empty Orchard Park.

Gang Green will travel to Buffalo for Week 1, attempting to start the second season of Adam Gase and Joe Douglas’s tenure with a win. The Jets will be looking for revenge for last season’s opener, in which New York squandered a 16-point lead and saw a divisional win slip away.

Now, the Bills are expected to be in the mix to win the AFC East following Tom Brady’s departure for Tampa Bay. As the Bills look to get their season off on the right foot against a divisional rival, oddsmakers view them as favorites at 6.5 points, according to BetMGM.

The oddsmakers are anticipating a close, defensive game with the Bills favored by less than a touchdown. The total over-under for Sunday’s opener is set at 39.5 points with both sides holding at -110. New York possesses a money line of +240 at a 6.5-point disadvantage. Against the spread, both teams hold the same odds at -110.

The Jets last saw the Bills at Orchard Park in last season’s finale, barely edging out a win in a 13-6 laugher. The Bills had already been locked into their playoff spot and rested their starters in a rain-soaked afternoon.

This Sunday’s game should look a bit different.
